Best Podcast For Dogs
Are you one of those crazy dog parents that live and breathe everything to do with dogs? Want to find the best podcast for dogs to listen to? Then you are in the right place.
Towards the end of 2018, I was so excited to be contacted by Brandon who had recently started the ‘Doggie Club Podcast’ for an interview. The podcast is a place where dog lovers from all around the world can unite and just enjoy listening to other crazy dog owners talk about their dogs. Doesn’t it sound wonderful!
Brandon interviews '“Instagram dogs”, well the humans behind the accounts, and basically chats about everything to do with dogs.
Brandon is such a nice guy and it was an absolute delight to chat with him and you can listen to our episode here.
But I wanted to introduce you all to Brandon and help you to really get to know him as it is HIM that makes this podcast. His passion and enthusiasm for dogs really shines through and he is just an awesome guy. I had such a blast talking about Amos with him and honestly can’t wait for our next episode! Yes I am saying there will be one right Brandon!
You and Abby are totally welcome around our house anytime when you come visit Brisbane, Australia!
So lets find out more about Brandon and why he started this incredible Podcast.
1. What made you start the Doggie Club Podcast?
I started Doggie Club because I've fallen in love with the medium of Podcasts over the last few years. I drive 3-4 hours every day, so the idea of using that time to listen and learn new things is hugely appealing to me! One day, something clicked in my head truly just like a light switch, and I knew I needed to make something meaningful in this forum. Few things are as meaningful to me as my sweet-baby-pupperino Peri, so things just kind of fell into place from there.
I would interview my friends that I've made from Peri's instagram to start, and see what could happen from there. It grows and morphs and changes everyday, but at it's core, Doggie Club is a place to come listen to stories about these beautiful creatures we are lucky enough to be sharing this moment in time with.
2. When you are not recording your podcast what is your favourite thing to do?
I love Ice Hockey. Playing it, watching it, listening to podcasts about it! Ever since I was little it's been a huge part of my life. My Dad got my siblings and I interested in the game really young. Other than that, I'd have to say the best days in my life are the ones when I can just wander around with Peri and Abby (my partner) with no real end goal in mind. Just hike a trail or cool off in the river nearby. No structure or expectations, just enjoying each others company.
3. How many dogs do you have?
Just Peri! Her full name is Peridot.
A dog was not at all something Abby and I were looking to add into our lives when we found her, but as these things go, we didn't have much choice in the matter. Once we knew in our hearts that she was ours, it was over. Now, Abby is in Vet School about 5 hours away from where we live, so Peri and I make the trip to see her every Wednesday, spend the rest of the week with her, then head back home on Monday so I can teach my guitar students at the beginning of the week. It's an unorthodox situation, but I wouldn't have it any other way.
4. What is your goal with doggie club podcast?
If Doggie Club changes even just one persons perception of the bully breeds or "Pit-Bull type dog", then I can honestly say it has accomplished one of the biggest things I've set out to do. Peri is AmStaff mixed with Australian Cattle Dog, and her coming into my life has completely made me aware of the struggles these dogs go through, simply based off how they look, and a ridiculous rhetoric that has no place in 2019.
Long term though, I plan to continue offering amazing interviews on the podcast, and if enough people find it and listen every week, I may even be able to make this my career! In that case, I would look to scale up with video features and all sorts of other crazy ideas!
5. Tell me 3 things about you that no one knows?
- I won Best Hair in 6th Grade because I wore "Liberty Spikes" to school almost every day that year.
- My favorite candy is... all of them! I have an incredibly bad sweet tooth.
- I've seen the entire contiguous United States (thanks to playing in so many bands!)
